The 2021 Proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule was released earlier this week (August 3) and the Academy has prepared a summary for members to review.
In this proposed rule, CMS reiterated its plan to move forward with cuts to a wide variety of providers—both physician and non-physician—to counterbalance increases to primary care providers.
Many providers hoped that in light of the COVID-19 crisis and the corresponding hit to health-care practices that CMS would pull back on the expected cuts. In response, the Academy and other provider groups issued a plea to Congress to prevent further damage to the health-care system. In addition, the Academy is a member of a coalition that is exploring legislative options to ameliorate these cuts.
