Helping Patients Find You

  • Foundation News

See How We Can Drive Patients to You!

Huh? An archeologist!? How many times have you heard that in response to someone asking what you do for a living? Too often, people don’t know what an audiologist is, not to mention the importance of the work we do.

For most of us, audiology is not just a job: it’s a profession. We spend our lives helping others hear better but the sad truth is that there are many people who do not know what we do, or why it is important.

Recently, CBS news stated that 82 percent of Internet users will look to Google for help finding information on their medical condition. Do you know that if you Google “hearing,” the Academy does not appear on page 1 or 2 of the search results? How effectively are we sending the message that an audiologist is the professional to see for hearing and balance concerns if we are invisible to the people we want to help? How do our patients and their family members find us?

This year, the American Academy of Audiology has developed an exciting initiative focused on just that: helping patients find us. To do that, we want to be at the top of the Google search. When a person is looking for help with hearing or balance, they are directed to the American Academy of Audiology: the largest professional organization of audiologists, and they find you!

You know how costly digital advertising can be. You also know elevating our image and educating the public will take an investment from all of us. Individually, we could never hope to tackle such a challenge. But together, we can drive consumer inquiries straight to the professionals most qualified to manage their hearing and balance needs. We can drive them to us.

Make a meaningful donation to the AAAF today, and by pooling our resources, we can change the way the public searches for an audiologist. Let’s help them find us!
